Bike Safety Concerns Continue On CU-Boulder Campus

Multiuse paths on the University of Colorado campus remain congested this winter, as warm weather allows students to continue walking and biking, even into finals week.By December, most students have usually left their bikes at home due to snow and ice covering the ground. But with high temperatures lingering in the 50s, cyclists are still out and about. Some pedestrians on campus are less enthusiastic about the continued biking.CU sophomore Savannah Sprague said she walks everywhere on campus and by now she’s usually more worried about getting through finals then speeding bikes.”I’m still being cautious,” Sprague said. “Bikes and skateboards are flying by. You just have to pay attention.”CU junior Taylor Britt rides his bike on campus every day and said he’s glad the weather is allowing him a few more weeks of easy riding. But he’s also aware of the dangers and inconveniences of bikes on a busy campus.
