Ohio Department of Education Announces Layoffs
State Superintendent Stan Heffner has announced the elimination of 26 employees at the Department of Education with more layoffs to come in the wake of state budget cuts.
“Today I authorized the elimination of 26 unclassified exempt positions agency-wide at the end of July due to budgetary constraints and retructuring of work at the Ohio Department of Education,” Heffner wrote in a letter to staff.
“Additional bargaining unit and classified exempt reductions will still be required, both to stay within our appropriation and to permit us to adequately staff areas of new responsibilities.”
