Wake superintendent praises controlled-choice student assignment plan

Wake County Superintendent Tony Tata gave strong signals today that he will recommend that the school board adopt a choice plan to determine where students will go to school in the district.

Tata said at a news conference today that hell ask the school board on June 21 to approve a new student assignment model to replace the socioeconomic-diversity based policy.

While Tata didnt say which of the two choices under review that hell recommend, he repeatedly praised the controlled-choice blue plan as being better than the rival base-assignment green plan.
